Picnic shelter reservations for 2010 accepted starting Feb. 1

Vancouver-Clark Parks and Recreation will begin taking picnic shelter reservations for 2010 events starting on Feb. 1 – one month later than in previous years.
Reservations will be taken by phone at 360-487-7100, or in person at the Marshall Community Center, at 1009 E. McLoughlin Blvd., Vancouver. Doors will open at 5:30 a.m. on Feb. 1, and reservations will be taken starting at 7 a.m.
The number of picnic shelters available to reserve will increase starting in 2010:
• Lewisville Regional Park (13 shelters) • Vancouver Lake Regional Park (4 shelters) • Frenchman's Bar Regional Park (2 shelters - new) • Captain William Clark Regional Park at Cottonwood Beach (2 shelters - new) • Salmon Creek Regional Park/Klineline Pond (2 shelters- new) • Leverich Community Park (1 shelter)
Clark County is currently considering charging rental fees for its picnic shelters starting in 2010 as a way to help pay to maintain them. The Board of Clark County Commissioners will hold a public hearing on the proposed fees at 10 a.m. on Jan. 26, 2010. Fees are already charged for the picnic shelter at Leverich Community Park.
