In October of 2005 the City of Vancouver was awarded a Bronze level Bicycle Friendly Community designation by the League of American Bicyclists. At the City Council meeting on June 19, 2006, Andy Clarke, Executive Director for the League of American Bicyclists, officially recognized the City of Vancouver with this honor.
Vancouver joins 51 other communities around the country that have been given this designation. The League's Bicycle Friendly Community Campaign is a national grassroots effort to increase the number of trips made by bike, promote physical fitness and help make communities become more livable.
