To date, the City of Vancouver has installed 30 bicycle racks in the downtown area. Funding for the installation of the bicycle racks has come from transportation funds and a private donation. The City has installed the “H” style racks and the “bike” bike rack.

If you have a location you would like the City to install a bicycle rack, submit a request below. For the past several years the City has not had any funds to install bicycle racks, but we are still taking requests with the possibility that funding will become available in Fall of 2006 or the Winter of 2007. The City cannot install bicycle racks on private property. We can only install bicycle racks in the public right-of-way. Once the City installs a bicycle rack we will take responsibility for maintenance of the rack.
If you own your own business or are a private developer, the City has requirements for installing bicycle parking. If you are going to install bicycle parking, it must meet the following standards set out in Section 20.945.050 of the City’s Municipal Code. The City has created a bicycle parking booklet than can be used as a guide when deciding what type of bicycle parking and how best to install it.
