Hearings Examiner

The Hearings Examiner is responsible for administering certain major land use decisions and hearing appeals of violations and administrative decisions. Land use actions that are included within the Hearings Examiner's review purview include:

• Subdivisions
• Shoreline substantial development permits
• Conditional Use Permits
• Major Variances (>20%)

The Hearings Examiner is a contractual employee hired by the City of Vancouver to impartially preside over land use and appeal hearings.

Hearings Examiner Requirements and Conditions

• City residency is not required
• Appointed by the City Council
• Term: Six-month initial term; one-year terms thereafter
• Maximum number of terms - None
• Training and experience qualifications for conducting administrative or quasi-judicial hearings

Land Use Hearing Schedule

Dates: 1st Thursday and 3rd Tuesday of every month
Time: 7 p.m.
Location: City Hall Council Chamber

August 5 and August 17 Hearings are cancelled
