WSUV Art Fair

April 10, 2009
Time: 12 PM to 7 PM

The fair is free and open to the public. Exhibits from more than 35 art and craft vendors will be on display with several items available for purchase. The vendor booths will be hosted by community members, faculty, staff, students and alumni. Media, print, photography, pottery, jewelry, fine art and more will be represented.

  • From noon to 1:30 p.m. the "How to Make an Online Portfolio" will be offered. To register contact Dene Grigar, grigar@vancouver.wsu.edu, fee $25.
  • From 3 - 5 p.m. the Salmon Creek Journal will host their 2009 edition release party with refreshments in the Administration building, rooms 129 and 130 where they will be handing out free copies of the journal featuring the works of WSU Vancouver students showcasing pieces in fiction, non-fiction, essay and poetry.
  • From 4:15 - 6 p.m. will be the fine arts class, "Make it and Take it" for adults and children. No registration or fee is required to participate.
  • At 4:30, 5:30 and 6:30 p.m., Tours of WSU Vancouver's art collection will begin in the Firstenburg Student Commons.
  • From 6 - 7 p.m. will be the "How to Make a Family Video." To register contact Dene Grigar, grigar@vancouver.wsu.edu, fee $25.

"Family friendly events such as the Art Fair offer our campus to the community and show that everyone can take advantage of what we have to offer. We want people to understand that this campus belongs to them too," said Jennifer Crooks, director of development for WSU Vancouver. Art tours will also feature the works of 1922 Washington State College (WSU) graduate; Donald J. Stewart. Stewart's work began in the early 1900s, spanning nearly 90 years and includes the original WSU yearbook cover from 1922 that will also be on display.

The Art Fair is sponsored by the Art Fair Committee members, the Associated Students of WSU Vancouver Senate, the Office of Development and Alumni Relations and the Salmon Creek Journal. Parking is available in the Blue Lot for $3. WSU Vancouver is located at 14204 NE Salmon Creek Ave., east of the 134th Street exit from either I-5 or I-205, or via C-Tran bus service.
