Paintings by Sharman Owings at WSUV
May 29, 2009
to May 31, 2009
Time: 8 AM
to 5 PM
Thirty two paintings by Sharman Owings are currently on display in the Engineering Life Science building at Washington State University Vancouver.
Thirty of the paintings on display are small-scale oil paintings. Owings painted one a day for 30 consecutive days. The subjects are portraits, landscapes and scenes painted from life. They combine a spontaneous feel, showing brush strokes and bold colors, and an attention to detail.
This exhibit will run until July 18.
"My weapon of choice is oil paint though I occasionally stray into other areas. The one constant is color," said Owings about her choice of medium. Owings is a mostly self-taught artist. She lives and works in Enumclaw, Wash.
Entry to campus exhibits is free. WSU Vancouver galleries are open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday.
