Creating a Low-Impact Event

In an effort to model a truly sustainable conference, we are partnering with the Hilton to produce an event with as low an impact on the environment as possible. We aim to:

  • Minimize waste and use materials responsibly

  • Offer a healthy menu, served sustainably

  • Invest locally to support the community

Guidelines for Exhibitors:

To aid in this endeavor, we ask that our exhibitors review and strongly consider the following guidelines, compiled from a variety of sources:

  • Design displays for re-use and construct them from recycled and recyclable materials.

  • Be creative and partner with local schools for mutual benefit.

  • Reduce giveaways or provide items that are durable, useful and made from recycled and recyclable materials.

  • Recommend that participants only take what they will actually use.

  • Purchase supplies that have minimal packaging.

  • Assist the move-in/-out process by recycling all cardboard, freight boxes and plastic wrap.

  • Limit paper use, but when it’s necessary:

  • Print on high post-consumer recycled content paper (min 30%).

  • Use vegetable-based ink for the copy.

  • Print on both sides and avoid excess copies.

  • Recycle all waste paper.

  • Avoid paper contaminants like glossy/plastic coatings, metallic inks, plastic windows, bright colors including goldenrod and adhesives.

Thank you for showing your commitment to sustainability.
