Apparatus: Engine 7 and Water Tender 7
Glenwood Station 7 was officially opened Feb. 23, 2006. This $3 million, 9,000-square-foot station at 12603 NE 72nd Ave. is in the Greater Brush Prairie neighborhood of Fire District 5.
Since the station began deploying emergency crews in January, 2006, response times have improved significantly. In a fast-growing fire or critical medical emergency, those seconds and minutes can mean the difference between life and death.
Glenwood is equipped with a fire engine for general emergency response and a water tender (mobile 1850-gallon tank) designed to haul water to areas without access to hydrants. Stations 7 was the ninth fire station in the 92-square-mile City of Vancouver and Fire District 5 consolidated service area. The City fire department has delivered fire suppression and Emergency Medical Services to the area via a contract with District 5 since 1994.

This was the first new fire station opened by the city since 1966. Sifton Fire House 4, also in Fire District 5 at 6701 NE 147 Ave., opened in 1992. Station 10 is set to open in January, 2010.
Glenwood Station features a community room, accommodations for the 24/7/365 firefighters, including sleeping rooms and a large exterior training area. It is staffed by two career firefighters plus volunteer firefighters through a special arrangement with the firefighters’ union.
