Morning Activities - Free: Activities begin around 10:30 a.m. in the Luepke Center Community Room unless otherwise noted. Call 360-487-7055 or 360-487-7050 for more information.

NEW SERVICE! - Resources for Life: This new program is designed to provide seniors and boomers with information about housing, transportation, mental health or aging in general. The social worker is available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Free 20-minute consultations are available for drop in from 12-1 p.m. Private 1-hour consultations from 1-2 p.m. are also available. For more information call 360-487-7050.

Holly Jolly Christmas Party and Lunch: Friday, Dec. 6. Join us for some holly jolly holiday fun! We will be dancing around the Christmas tree with DJ Smokey Topaz. If you've been good, Santa may visit! Sponsored by At Your Place Senior Care and Discovery Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Swinging in the New Year's Eve Dance: Saturday, Dec. 31, 6:30-10 p.m. Let's ring in 2017 with an evening of live music, dancing, light refreshments, party favors and sparkling cider! Call 360-487-7100 to sign up, or register at Marshall Center. $15/$18 per person.

Let’s Dance – Root Beer Floats: 2nd Wednesday, 11-11:30 a.m. Sponsored by Pacific Specialty and Rehab Care.

Meals on Wheels People: Mondays-Fridays, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Community Room. Enjoy a hot, nutritious meal provided by Meals on Wheels People, a nonprofit organization. Anyone 60 years of age and older is welcome to join us for lunch, regardless of income. Suggested lunch donation is $3. Sunday Dances: Dance on Sundays from 2-4 p.m. Bands subject to change. Dec. 4-John Lazzari; Dec. 11-Charles and The Angels; Dec. 18-John Bennett; Dec. 25 - CLOSED for Christmas. Tickets are $4 at the door and light refreshments are provided. Singles and couples welcome.

WANTED: New Club Leader. We would LOVE to start some new clubs at Luepke Center and are looking for an instructor. Call Kelly 360-487-7055 if you are interest in the following:

  • Games On! Luepke is starting a new Thursday morning Games On! activity. We are looking for someone who knows various old and new fun games and is good with people. Looking to start Mexican train dominos, Scrabble and chess clubs.

Bridge Clubs: 12:30-3:30 p.m. Tuesdays – Advanced Bridge; Fridays – Social bridge for ages 50-plus. Marshall Center Elm Room. On the first Friday of the month, new players are invited to arrive at noon for a relaxed game with hands-on instruction. Basic understanding of how to play necessary, but you don't need to be an expert. For more information, call Buzz Avery at 360-991-0128. $2.

50+ Computer Lab: Available to people 50 and older during designated hours. Internet and computer use agreement must be signed. Users will be required to sign in at Luepke Center Front Desk each time visit. Computer time is limited to 45 minutes.

Cribbage: Thursdays, 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Drawing and Painting Club: Wednesdays, 1:15-4:15 p.m. Bring art supplies! Draw or paint with the Free Model Guide. No instructor provided. For details, or if you would like to model call 487-7055.

Hand and Foot Card Club: Wednesdays, 12:30-3:30 p.m.

International Folk Dancing Club: Tuesdays, 3-4:15 p.m. No partner needed. Marshall Center Group Exercise Room.

Knitting/Crochet Club: Mondays, 10 a.m.-noon. Bring your own needles and yarn. this is a social knitting club/no instructor.

Mah Jongg: Mondays, 9 a.m.-noon, and Thursdays, 1-4 p.m. New members welcome. Contact Kelly at 487-7055 for more information.

Mah Jongg Beginning: Thursdays, 10 a.m.-12:45 p.m. This is a social club (no instructor). Marshall Center.

Marshallaires Choir:  Mondays, 1-3 p.m. For membership or performance information please call 360-487-7055. New members welcome. No fee.

Men's Cooking: Fridays, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. MCC Center Kitchen and Conference Room. New members wanted. Call 487-7055; currently we requesting you register for the wait list.

On  Going Quilt Club: Mondays, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Marshall Center Craft Room East. Come visit with us and see our quilts. New members welcome!

Page Turners Book Club: 1st Wednesday, 10 a.m.-noon. All participants will read the same book, and lively discussions will enable all to join and learn. The Kitchen House, by Kathleen Grissom (historical novel) will featured in December. City of Women, by David R. Gillham (fiction) will be featured in January.

Pinochle Clubs: Tuesdays at Luepke, 12:30-3:30 p.m., and Fridays- Racehorse Pinochle at Marshall Oak Room, 1-3 p.m.

Red Herring Mystery Book Club: 2nd Monday, 1-2 p.m. Join this lively group for exciting and interesting monthly discussions.

Legal Clinic: Wednesdays, 1-3 p.m. (no fifth Wednesday) Appointment required. Please call 487-7050 to schedule your free half hour consultation with a volunteer attorney. Please note there is a long waiting list.

Money Matters Financial Clinic: 2nd Fridays. Luepke Conference Room. Meet one-on-one with financial adviser Laurel Numbers of Morgan Stanley. Topics include budgeting, settling or planning an estate, concerns about investments, financial transitions due to death or divorce, planning for aging and long-term care. Go Green Recycle Bin, in the Luepke Center parking lot: Please join in this fundraising project by bringing your newspaper, cardboard and phone books for recycling. Funds received will go to 50+ Activities. Recycle bin available every day.

SENIOR FITNESS AND WELLNESS

Become a pass-holder at Firstenburg, Marshall or the Vancouver Tennis Center. Swim, play work out, or take group exercise classes for a low monthly fee. You'll find ways to  stay healthy and meet new friends at the same time. Marshall Center offers both SilverSneakers® and Silver&Fit® programs. The SilverSneakers® Fitness Program is offered in partnership with select health plans at no additional cost for Medicare-eligible members. The Silver&Fit® Fitness Program is designed specifically for Medicare beneficiaries. If you are over 60, you may qualify for a free Silver Sneakers or Silver&Fit pass, which includes fitness classes listed below. Aquatics/Pool - Water temperature is between 84-86 degrees.

Marshall Center Pool will be closing in December: The pool will undergo a complete renovation and rebuild of the filtration and mechanical system, as well as several upgrades and enhancements to the pool. Both the men's and women's locker rooms, along with the rest of hte Marshall and Luepke campus, will remain open and available during the project. Look for updates and specific pool closure dates, durations and alternative swim locations in January's Messenger.

Gymnasium

50+ Basketball & Volleyball: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12-2 p.m. $2 per person. Marshall Community Center.

Foot Care Clinic: Receive routine treatment, have fungal nails trimmed, corns and calluses smoothed. Pre-registration is required. Clinician, Mona Barber. Call 360-487-7100 to set a 30-minute appointment. $34/$39.
