What is the Neighborhood Traffic Safety Alliance (NTSA)?
The Neighborhood Traffic Safety Alliance is a group of citizen volunteers from Vancouver’s neighborhoods who advocate for neighborhood traffic safety and advise the Vancouver Department of Transportation in the administration of two street improvement funding programs.
The NTSA acts as an independent advisory committee and is open to membership from any recognized neighborhood association within the City of Vancouver.
How can you and your neighborhood get involved?
City of Vancouver residents are encouraged to participate in the Neighborhood Traffic Safety Alliance to learn more about traffic safety in their neighborhoods and to become more involved in making the city a safer place to live.
Safe Neighborhood Streets - Educational Clinics
The Neighborhood Traffic Safety Alliance is hosting three special ‘safe streets’ clinics to explore low-cost safety tools for residents to use in calming neighborhood traffic. The public is encouraged to attend and learn about various neighborhood-initiated actions that address local speeding concerns on residential streets. Click here to view clinic details. The educational workshops are scheduled for May 18, June 15 and September 21. The NTSA will hold regular meetings in May and September, prior to each clinic. The public is welcome to attend! RSVP to Brooke Porter at 360-487-7731 or brooke.porter@ci.vancouver.wa.us
Once the Safe Neighborhood Streets clinics are completed, neighborhood associations will have the opportunity to apply for small grants to help further some of the concepts discussed in the workshops. These safe street pilot projects should demonstrate 'neighborhood initiated' actions that address traffic issues without requiring physical methods of traffic calming. The pilot projects would most likely be implemented in the summer of 2011.
