    Background
Disc golf is a popular sport around the country and there are several courses throughout the Portland metropolitan area. Through a partnership with the enthusiastic volunteers at Vancouver Disc Golf and Stumptown Disc Golf, the idea was formed to develop a disc golf course in Vancouver Parks. The professional disc golf association is a good resource of information if you are new to the sport.

Many park properties were reviewed for compatibility for a disc golf course. Criteria included easy access from major arterials, sufficient parking, available amenities for users (i.e. parking, restrooms, etc), and enough open space to add this programmed use without compromising other park users. Of the sites identified, Leverich Park best fit the needs for the course.

Through active fundraising by the volunteers, meetings with City staff to ensure a safe layout of the course and persistence, the course came to fruition in late 2008. There were about 30 volunteers working over two days to install the posts, signs and baskets for the 12-hole course.

    Location
Leverich Community Park is just east of I-5 and north of 39th St. in the heart of Vancouver. The disc golf course starts with the first tee near the south parking lot. If this lot is full, park near the picnic shelter off of Leverich Park Way and follow the path through the park to the south end.

The course includes 12 holes that wind throughout the beautiful rolling and wooded topography of the park. CLICK HERE for the course layout and scorecard.

    Rules
Park rules apply to the disc golf course. Click here for the park rules. Park hours are 7:00 a.m. to dusk and there are no fees to play disc golf in the park during regular park hours.

Please respect the natural setting of this park and the habitat areas. Use the paved pathways at all times to get from tees and greens. Do not cut through shrub or wooded areas as this park is part of the Burnt Bridge Creek watershed improvement efforts. Do not enter the creek at anytime. Please help protect this vital water resource.

    Event Registration
Leverich Community Park has sufficient parking, a large picnic shelter, and restrooms to host events at the park. Please refer to the following procedures to reserve the shelter and acquire a Special Use Permit for events. Special Use Permits allow the Parks Department track special event and minimize conflicts with other park users.
