Vancouver Urban Forestry, with input from the community and other stakeholders, has developed the City's first urban forestry
management plan. The plan synthesizes existing City tree-related policies,
the latest urban forest research, arboricultural best management practices, professional
tree care expert opinions, and input from the public into a vision for the future of Vancouver's urban forest.
The plan was approved by the Urban Forestry Commission, the Vancouver-Clark Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission, and the Planning Commission in Spring 2007. Vancouver City Council approved the plan for final adoption as an amendment to the City's Comprehensive Plan in December 2007.

The purpose of the urban forestry management plan is to guide Urban Forestry's
future efforts to increase overall tree canopy cover, improve tree health, and maximize
the benefits of trees for all residents.
Vancouver Urban Forestry received a grant from Washington State Department of Natural
Resources' Urban and Community Forestry Program, using funds from the USDA Forest Service, to partially fund the development of the management plan.
