Access to Recreation (formerly the Citizens of Disability Program) - 360-487-7058
Recreational activities provide the opportunity for people of all abilities and backgrounds
to meet and share time with each other in ways that encourage friendship to take root and
flourish. The Access to Recreation program, as well as the other Parks and Recreation Department
activities and programs, enable people to establish ongoing friendships through discovering common interests.
For information on activities and events for people with disabilities, call 360-487-7058 and we'll put you on the mailing list.
Medications reminders must be given to staff prior to departure on outings.
Families may use their respite money to pay for classes. If an activity is canceled and respite was used to pay for it, we will issue credit to be applied to other activities.
Prior notice is needed if a participant displays challenging behaviors.
Participants must register for activities within their age category.
Drop In Programs: Drop in program participants in programs such as Child Watch, Fitness, Aquatics,
and Teen Zones will no longer receive Inclusion services at no cost. There will be an $11 per hour fee for
provision of an Inclusion mentor. Participants with their own caregiver/family member functioning as a mentor must have
that caregiver/family member register with Inclusion services. The caregiver/family member may attend at no charge.
For more information about this policy change please contact Teresa Williamson at 360-487-7060.
Clients requiring personal care will need to either provide their own care provider or
pay $16 per hour for Vancouver-Clark Parks and Recreation to provide a personal care attendant.
The only exception to this policy is summer camps, where funding has been acquired specifically
for personal care.
If you wish to participate in activities outside of the Access to Recreation section, please call
360-487-7060, and download Inclusion Intake documents here.
