Report on Greater Vancouver Recreation: September, 1943 to September, 1944
A yellowed, typed document was recently discovered in the Vancouver Parks and Recreation archives, entitled "Report on Greater Vancouver Recreation". It is dated September, 1944, and is "the first really comprehensive report" on recreation programs in Vancouver, Washington. Take a moment to browse through this slice of history, and the ways in which recreation services fit into the lives of the people in this community in the 1940's. It was a time of war, a time before civil rights, a time devoid of technology we seemingly couldn't live without today, but there was still a progressive mentality regarding the value of parks and recreation.
