On Tuesday, June 3, the Parks Foundation of Clark County will honor the four recipients of the 2014 Florence B. Wager Awards and distribute $180,157 in funding to park, trail, and recreation programs and projects throughout Clark County.

Tickets for the Annual Luncheon, which begins at 11:30 at the Hilton Vancouver, are $35 for Parks Foundation members and $40 for nonmembers. Tickets are available online at www.parksfoundation.us/events/annual-luncheon or by calling the Foundation office at 487-8370. A limited number of $500 Camas Lily Sponsored Tables, which seat eight and provide table signage and program recognition, are still available.

“It is due to the extraordinary generosity of our sponsors, donors, and community partners that we are able to fund so many worthwhile projects and programs this year,” said Cheri Martin, Executive Director of the Foundation.  “We are truly fortunate to live in a community which understands that it is the parks, trails, and recreation programs which make a community stand out as a place to raise children, enjoy natural beauty, and live a healthy life.”

The Community Grant program was launched in 2009 to help support the needs of the parks and recreation departments of Clark County. The Foundation raises funds to meet needs identified through Community Grant applications and also seeks and secures support for specific programs and projects from individual donors, businesses, and granting organizations throughout the year.

The luncheon will also feature the formal presentation of the 2014 Florence B. Wager Awards honoring leaders, volunteers, and parks and recreation professionals who have had a significant impact on the development and enhancement of the parks, trails, and recreation programs of Clark County. The award’s namesake, Florence B. Wager, was a tireless advocate for parks, trails, and greenways in our community, and exemplified the high level of service these awards recognize. Florence B. Wager passed away in 2012.
