Introduction

The Vancouver Sunrise Rotary is excited to offer you an opportunity to support the latest and greatest Vancouver community event, SW Washington's Got Talent. An event focused on celebrating and supporting local talent. Benefiting at-risk youth and local families through Santa’s Posse and the Vancouver Police Activities League, this signature event is sure to be greeted with enthusiasm and excitement!

visit www.southwestwashingtonsgottalent.com to find out more how you can audtion for the talent portion or become a sponsor for this event.

The final talent show will be at the main stage at the Vancouver Sausage Festival on September 12, 2010.  This event supports PAL and Santa’s Posse.

Our beginnings actually started back in the 1910s when Captain John Sweeney of the New York City Police Department had the insight to offer inner-city youth some positive experiences, which involved law enforcement. He began the Police Athletic League or PAL knowing that the program would influence the youths significantly. Police involvement and supervision at places of play - ball fields, classrooms, playgrounds engaged the children and helped to position Police Officers as friends.

Vancouver PAL Today

The Vancouver Police Activities League is proud to carry on this great tradition! We have been serving Vancouver youth with both athletic  and academic programs including boxing, an annual summer football camp, basketball, a summer fishing derby and literacy just to name a few.

Vancouver PAL relies on support from the community to fund our progams and on volunteers to continue them. Vancouver PAL is a 501(c)3 organization and your tax deductible donations go directly to helping local youth participate in structured, mentored activities throughout the year. Please consider donating time or money to help Vancouver PAL. The economy has impacted Vancouver PAL and our ability to offer more programs so your continued support during this economic downturn is needed now more than ever.

Vancouver PAL has a part-time paid Exectutive Director and and a volunteer Board of Directors. To get involved with PAL either as a participant, supporter or volunteer contact Executive Director Curtis Kimbrough at (360) 487-7487.
