Vancouver, Wash. – On Friday, May 5, 2017, law enforcement officers from the Vancouver, Battle Ground and Washougal Police Departments conducted increased DUI enforcement in an effort to keep drunk, drugged and high drivers off our roadways.

The enforcement resulted in a total of 68 contacts, 6 DUI arrests, 19 citations, 40 warnings and 10 other arrests.

During this particular emphasis, volunteers from the Vancouver Police Department Neighbors On Watch (NOW) program were utilized as extra eyes and ears. At one point in the evening, NOW volunteers observed a driver dumping beer out of his vehicle and driving erratically and reported their observation to one of the officers working the enforcement. The driver was located by police and arrested for DUI.

These regular DUI enforcement efforts are made possible thanks to a grant from the Washington Traffic Safety Commission as part of Target Zero, Washington’s strategic roadmap for eliminating traffic fatalities and serious injuries by 2030.
