The Southwest Washington Regional SWAT team provides specialized tactical responses to high-risk situations throughout Clark County, minimizing risk of harm to public safety personnel, victims, suspects, and the community. Vancouver Police coordinates training and activations and provides financial and administrative oversight for the regional team.
The types of missions the SWAT team participates in include high-risk warrants services, barricaded subjects, high-risk apprehensions, dignitary protection details, security details, assisting with arrest warrant sweeps with other specialty units such as the Safe Streets Task Force.
SWAT responds to calls for assistance/service by VPD Patrol, Neighborhood Response Team, Violent Crime Unit Detectives, CCSO Patrol and the Tactical Detective Unit, Camas Patrol and Detectives, Clark-Skamania Drug Task Force, ATF, and Washington State Patrol.
The Southwest Washington Regional Crisis Negotiation Team is a component of the regional SWAT team. This team is comprised of twelve members; six from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, five from the Vancouver Police Department, and one from Battleground Police Department.
