Emergency Preparedness

Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT)

CERT volunteers are trained in disaster preparedness, fire suppression, basic disaster medical services, light search and rescue, team organization, and protection against terrorist threats.  CERT members act as an extension of first responder services by offering immediate help to victims until professional services arrive.

CERT in Vancouver

The Vancouver Fire Department is proud to support the development and training of a grassroots group of citizens who are committed to responsible preparation for community emergencies.

Ongoing refresher training is available to citizens that have completed the basic CERT course.  For more information on refresher training contact:
