Construction of sanitary improvements began during the week of March 20 at various locations throughout Vancouver, including portions of East McLoughlin Blvd, Grand Blvd, West 20th Street, NE 124th Ave and NE 22nd Street. Late afternoon and night work is planned for Wednesday, April 19, along Grand Blvd between East 5th and 6th streets. ADA Ramp Construction/Pavement Management Resurfacing
Construction began Wednesday, April 12, on a project to improve 96 pedestrian curb ramp corners to meet ADA accessibility requirements. The ramp construction will affect portions of six Vancouver neighborhoods, with completion targeted for early June in advance of asphalt resurfacing of about 20 lane miles of street this summer. The work is part of the City’s 2017 Pavement Management Program.
Ramp construction will begin in the Burton Ridge Neighborhood, where 24 street corners will get new ADA ramps. The following streets are involved: NE 92nd Avenue from NE 19th Street to NE 21st Street, NE 21st Street from NE 92nd Avenue to NE 98th Avenue, and NE 98th Avenue from NE 19th Street to NE 22nd Street. Other neighborhoods that will see some new ADA curb ramps are: Kevana Park, 4 corners; Cascade Southeast, 16 corners; Cascade Highlands, 40 corners; Mountain View, 6 corners; and Northwest, 6 corners.
The work will include pavement cutting, construction of the ADA ramps and curbs, and pavement striping and landscaping at some locations. In general, construction will take place between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, but may run as late as 8 pm if needed.
Sanitary Sewer Improvements – NE 79th Street, NE 118th Avenue to NE 128th Avenue, and nearby residential streets
As part of the city’s Sewer Connection Incentive Program, construction crews are extending sanitary sewer lines in the Granada South neighborhood. The project will install approximately 14,500 feet of sanitary sewer main, including sewer laterals to property lines. In general, construction hours will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, with project completion expected in November.
NE 18th Street Improvement Project, Four Seasons Lane to NE 136th Ave
Construction began in late January on the next segment of the NE 18th Street Improvement Project, from Four Seasons Lane to NE 136th Avenue. The street is being upgraded to urban standards with additional travel lanes, an improved traffic signal system, street lights, and bike and pedestrian facilities. Installation of underground utilities is nearly complete on the south side of Northeast 18th Street, east of Northeast 125th Ave. Next steps include grading and placing rock for widening the south side of 18th Street; and utilities installation along the north side of the street, also east of 125th Avenue. In addition, Clark Public Utilities will be working in the area to relocate power poles as part of this project. Project completion is expected in early 2018. Work hours are generally 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday but go as late as 8 p.m. if needed. www.cityofvancouver.us/18thStreet
