All around the world and particularly in developing nations, March 22 has been set a side as a day each year to focus on one of the most precious resources for life: Water. Water is, in fact, a scarce commodity. Even in the Pacific Northwest, where winter rains regularly drench and soak the soil, our water cannot and should not be taken for granted. To better recognize and inform about the vital role water plays in sustaining life and community, the Water Center is preparing a new event in March in conjunction with World Water Day. We welcome your input and suggestions on how we might come together this year and in future years to learn more about water issues outside of our own community. Send us an email with your best World Water ideas.

The Water Resources Education Center will be observing World Water Day from 1 to 3 on March 9 during the Second Saturday activities. Families can join in a Walk for Water - bring a watertight container and walk for water like millions of people do in other countries.
