Recovery Act in Vancouver

Vancouver and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009

American Recovery and Reinvestment ActThe American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) provides $787 billion in federal spending and tax cuts to help jumpstart the U.S. economy. This is an unprecedented effort to save and create millions of jobs.

The City of Vancouver is seeking ARRA funding for as many local government projects and programs as possible. Funding is available for a wide range of projects including infrastructure improvements, technology upgrades, energy efficiency, job training, law enforcement, housing, and health care.  Additionally, the ARRA contains approximately $300 billion in tax cuts and tax incentives for individuals, businesses, and governments.

The ARRA is designed to inject money quickly into the economy by using pre-existing programs, criteria and funding methods. Some of the money will be distributed directly to federal agencies. Other portions will go directly to state and local governments using pre-existing funding formulas or will be available from federal agencies through a competitive application process. The city will have the opportunity to compete for these dollars along with state agencies, local governments, nonprofit organizations, businesses and educational institutions across the nation.

The City of Vancouver is committed to being open and transparent in its use of ARRA funds. ARRA funding incorporates strict reporting requirements and deadlines which means recipients will have to document and report more items in a timely manner. We will continue to refine this website and will include tools that will allow you to track and monitor the progress of any of its ARRA-funded projects.

The table below provides a summary of the applications that the City is pursuing at this time.
