Firstenburg Community Center
Beginning Line Dance: Boot and scoot into some dancing fun. No partner needed.
Belly Dance: Get fit while having fun with the basic foundations of belly dance.
Night Club 2-Step Social Dancing: Learn the basics of ballroom dancing; this dance is quickly replacing the waltz.
West Coast Swing: The class will teach you basics of partner dancing. Get moving to popular music from yesterday and today!
Salsa Dancing: Learn smooth rhythm and syncopation that makes Salsa fun; no partner needed.
Photography Techniques/Point/Shoot Class: Learn photography options and the many  features, modes, and menus on your camera; share your pictures and critique them.
Vegetarian Cooking “Go Cheesy Dairy Free”: Incredible pure-vegetarian options made with natural, animal-free ingredients.
Cell Phone Simplicity: This class is geared specifically for seniors who are confused by their cell phone options. Learn the features of cell phones and how to use them.
Foot Care Clinic: Basic 30-minute routine treatment. Set appointment at time of registration.

Mark and the Memphis Kings present ELVIS NIGHTS: Friday, July 16, 7-9:30 p.m. All ages are invited to this fundraiser for Fifty and Better Programs and Loaves and Fishes, Inc. Shake, rattle and roll to the live music of one of the areas hottest Elvis tribute bands. Light refreshments and free photos with Elvis. We will depart Luepke Center at 11:15 a.m. and arrive back around 1:30 p.m. $2 per person. Let’s take our lunch to Esther Short Park and listen to music. New! 50+ Forever Young Hiker/Walker Orientation: Thursday, July 1, 12:30-2 p.m. If you are new to Luepke Center’s hiking or walking programs, a one-hour orientation class is required and will be held on the 1st Thursday of each month. What to expect, what to bring and what to wear, as well as program requirements, will be discussed. If you sign up for a hike on orientation day, you will receive a one time discount card to use at time of registration. Power Point presentation by hiking guide, Rod Cusic. SENIOR FITNESS
Luepke Center
New! 50+ Forever Young Hiker/Walker Orientation: 1st Thursday of each month, 12:30-2 p.m., Luepke Conference Room. If you are new to Luepke Center’s hiking or walking program, a one hour orientation class is required prior to participation (no registration necessary). Program requirements, what to bring and to wear will be discussed and questions will be answered by the program guide.
50+ Forever Young Hikers
All hikes are designed for hikers with experience. You must be able to maintain a pace of a 20-minute mile. Please check the rating on the hike and pay consideration to the distance and elevation gain since many of these hikes are located in distant wilderness areas. If you have not hiked with us before, please call Lisa Deane at 487-7054 for more information.
Join us for year-round adventures through the great Northwest, from the Columbia River Gorge to the beaches of the Pacific Ocean. A great way to stay active, meet new people and have fun. Hikes are approximately 4-6 miles, round-trip. All hikes may include a second afternoon hike, time and weather permitting. Hiking boots, a whistle, a water bottle and a walking stick are recommended.
Tuesdays
8 a.m.-5 p.m., $16 (Bring a lunch).
Pre-registration required; call 487-7100 or register online at vanclarkparks-rec.org. Meet at Luepke Center 15 minutes prior to hike departure. All hikes leave by van from Luepke Center parking lot. Bring money for a beverage/snack/comfort stop on each hike. Instructor/guide: Rod Cusic. Volunteer driver/guides: Roger Juhl, Ellen Burns and Harvey Stone.
Easy: 4 miles with an elevation gain of up to 300 feet. Must be able to walk a 20-minute mile on fairly level ground with little elevation gain.
Moderate: 4-6 miles with an elevation gain of up to 1,500 feet. May include slopes and/or steep areas.
Difficult: 6-8 miles with an elevation gain of up to 2,500 feet. Involves harder climbing, rocky terrain, possible steep and/or narrow paths.
Ramona Falls, Mt. Hood—Ore., July 6: Moderate. 7.1 miles, 1,000 foot elevation gain. Hike along a portion of the Sandy River and Ramona Creek, to Ramona Falls, a 120-foot high cliff of moss covered columnar basalt. Great views of Mt. Hood along the trail.

Veda Lake and Trillium Lake Loop—Ore., July 13: Easy-Moderate. 4.8 miles, 750-foot elevation gain. A tiny lake with catchable brook trout, fine views of Mt. Hood, as well as wildflowers, Pacific Silver fir and mountain hemlock along the way.

Mystery Hike, July 20: Moderate. 5-7 miles, 500-1,200 foot elevation gain. This will be a great hike full of fun and adventure.

Cascade Head Nature Conservancy—Ore., July 27: Moderate-Difficult. 5 miles, 900-foot elevation gain. Cascade Head was named by sailors who spotted waterfalls cascading from sheer ocean cliffs. Trail begins through dense wooded and swampy areas and then opens to a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean and Salmon River Estuary.

Pacific Crest Trail #2000, Steamboat Lake—Wash., Aug. 3: Easy, 5 miles, 200-foot elevation gain. This hike is a must for old growth forest lovers. As part of the 2,600-mile long Pacific Crest Trail, this section of the PCT is the most remembered by many for the huge cedars, firs and hemlocks.

50+ Forever Young Walkers
Calling all non-walkers and future hikers. Join our Wednesday walking adventures in the beautiful Vancouver area, meet new folks and enjoy the great outdoors while getting fit. Walkers may reach a level where they can participate in a more vigorous hiking program with longer and more strenuous year round hikes. Volunteer guide, Rod Cusic. Walks take place on a Wednesday and are only $5 per walk. Pre-registration required; call 487-7100 or register online at vanclarkparks-rec.org.
Meet at Luepke Center lobby at 8:45 a.m. Walks leave at 9 a.m. You provide your own transportation to designated trailhead. Lunch with the group is optional.

Lewisville Park—Wash., July 7: Built in 1936 by the Washington Parks Association, it is one of the oldest publicly owned parks in Clark County. Enjoy lots of old growth firs and the clear running waters of the Lewis River.

Eastbank Esplanade, Portland—Ore., July 21: Walk along the Willamette River Waterfront and experience the hustle and bustle of city life as we pass 22 interpretive displays which describe the history of the bridges and riverfront restoration.
