Bird Language Basics for Adults
Saturday, October 11, 2025
9:30 am - 12:30 pm
Water Resources Education Center
4600 SE Columbia Blvd, Vancouver WA
Birds are among the most vocal creatures on Earth. The daylight around fall equinox mimics that of spring, giving one more burst of song from our feathered friends before they quiet down for winter.
In this field class, you’ll discover how paying attention to the calls, postures, and behaviors of songbirds can enhance your ability to spot more wildlife, unravel fascinating stories, deepen your connection to nature and increase your awareness skills.
This workshop will introduce techniques like sound mapping and sit spots to help better understand bird vocalizations. Held outdoors, the class will have opportunities to both sit still and listen to the birds, as well as take a guided hike to experience more of their vocalizations.
This class is designed for adult learners (18 years and older).
Expect to walk 1.5 mile on paved and uneven, muddy trails and to sit outside for approximately 60 minutes. Binoculars will be available to use.
Advanced registration required. Sign up today to reserve your spot!
