Volunteer Coach of the Year

Compassionate. Encouraging. Inspiring. Selfless. Fun! These are the qualities that Dave Miletich exemplified throughout his life, and they are qualities that continue to inspire our community today.

Vancouver Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services proudly presents the Dave Miletich Volunteer Coach of the Year Award each year to recognize a volunteer youth coach who demonstrates these same values in their service to local athletes and families.

Dave Miletich served the City of Vancouver for more than 17 years as Recreation Manager and Assistant Parks and Recreation Director. He was instrumental in developing major community projects, including the construction of Firstenburg Community Center (2006) and the renovation of Marshall Community Center (2007).

Beyond his professional achievements, Dave was a passionate volunteer coach for his three sons and a beloved mentor to countless youth. His leadership, teamwork, and dedication to helping others thrive remain at the heart of our programs today.

Dave passed away in November 2023.

Nominate an Outstanding Coach

Each season, families participating in Vancouver Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services youth sports leagues receive an email with a link to the Volunteer Coach of the Year nomination form. This is your opportunity to recognize a coach who goes above and beyond, embodying the spirit of teamwork, encouragement, and fun that Dave Miletich brought to his players.

At the end of each year, a selection committee carefully reviews all nominations and chooses one outstanding coach to receive the Dave Miletich Volunteer Coach of the Year Award. Thank you for helping us celebrate the incredible volunteers who make youth sports a positive and memorable experience for every child!
