City Manager update: February 2026

February 6, 2026

Many community members have reached out to the City Council with questions and concerns about immigration, safety, and the City’s interactions with federal agencies. We appreciate hearing from you. Your voices, your experiences, and your perspectives help guide our work and ensure we remain responsive to the needs of everyone who calls Vancouver home.

To clearly share their position, the City Council issued a declaration formally denouncing the actions of federal immigration enforcement agencies and affiliated federal law enforcement agencies operating under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), including U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

We also want to make sure residents have access to clear, reliable information. To support that, we’ve gathered resources on our website, including answers to frequently asked questions, and links to community organizations that offer assistance. The Vancouver Police Department has also produced a series of videos with useful information, including how to identify VPD members in the community, your rights, and what to do if you see suspicious activity.

Thank you for continuing to engage with us, ask questions, and look out for one another. Vancouver is strongest when we stay informed and connected as a community.
