March-July construction at The Downs Park

Construction on several improvements at The Downs Park will begin soon. These upgrades will help make the park more welcoming, comfortable and fun for the community.
From mid-March through July, portions of the park will be temporarily closed while work takes place. The playground and walking trails will remain open during construction. Work hours are Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Improvements include:
- A picnic shelter with a “leaky roof” design that provides shade on sunny days while helping discourage unauthorized overnight use
- A half-court basketball area designed for all skill levels, with a paved surface that can also be used for other types of play
- A new irrigation system to help keep the central lawn greener and more comfortable during warmer months
- Security lighting on the east side of the park to improve visibility after dark
Construction will be completed by Stability Solutions LLC of Battle Ground. The contractor has been briefed on working and driving safely in the neighborhood. Please avoid construction areas and use caution around equipment while work is underway.
