Vancouver Police Investigate Fatality Collision

On August 19, 2026, at around 7:45 p.m., Vancouver Police responded to S. Andresen Rd./MacArthur Blvd. for the report of a collision involving a pickup truck that hit a pedestrian who was in motorized wheelchair. The driver (55 years old) was traveling westbound on MacArthur, had stopped at the stop sign and was proceeding through the intersection when he hit the male in a wheelchair (74 years old) who had entered the crosswalk. The male was transported to an area hospital but did not survive his injuries. The driver remained on scene and was cooperative with police. There were no signs of impairment.
The Vancouver Police Department Traffic Unit is continuing the investigation.
