Overall Plan
Track or eventually area search, as this will have a lot of contamination leading to the man door of the detached garage. Maybe we can use going into the residence as an abandoned property, but that is to be determined with the owner.
Upon getting to the building, there will be damage to the man door, and they have all permissions to clear the interior from the owners, with no persons supposed to be on property.
Handler will feed dog in, and just inside the door there will be a box containing hot dogs labeled as “rat poison” to get the dog to engage the box. As this happens, the decoy presents themselves from behind the vehicle in the garage or from behind a wall in the residence, and the canine should engage the decoy.
Handler should properly and safely enter the building, get the canine off the bite, and get the decoy into custody. Handler finishes clear and then leaves.
They hopefully look at what their dog was eating, and if not, they are shown a short video of what their dog is now exhibiting (video of rat poison ingestion).
They should have a plan of load and go. If they take the time to view the box, this would be smart, as it would provide the exact type of poison ingested.
Site 2: Dunes Area Search
Trainer: Mark McKinney
Decoys: 2/2 for scenario – Must be different descriptions
Cover Officers: 1 or pretend – Wig if needed
TEMS/Medical: 0
Students at Once: 2
Equipment List
- Medical supplies
- Bandages
- Tourniquet
- Gauze
- Etc.
- Multiple Tents
- Blank Rounds
- Vehcile
- BOLO Hit Laminated
Overall Plan
Handler will pull up for a suspicious vehicle call and run the plate. They will receive a BOLO hit on the vehicle for a wanted subject who is associated with the ran vehicle. A description of the wanted subject will be provided that clearly doesn’t match that of the person occupying the vehicle.
The non-occupied seat will have the door open in the direction that the “wanted” subject would have gone to go pee. There will be some tents off in that direction simulating “occupied public land,” and handlers should be aware and cautious of the potential uninvolved.
Handlers should recognize that the occupant doesn’t match the wanted and contact them to obtain further info, at which time the occupant will advise that the wanted subject was in the vehicle but went out to pee.
When this is happening, the decoy will be observed by the handler fleeing into the wooded area. To expedite them getting their canine, the trainer will provide that containment is set and cover officers are arrived and ready to go.
They will then deal with the search and engage the decoy, bringing the scenario to an end.
The decoy in the car should have a bite suit on if the door is open should a handler arrive and send the dog into the car without caring about the description.
Medical Site – Travel to Longview Hospital, see the Broadway School Sites sheet for further information.
Understand they have ten to fifteen minutes travel to the med site and the same to return.
These scenario sites are specifically meant to have slightly shorter overall times due to travel.
