Franklin Park playground closed Aug. 10

The playground at Franklin Park will be closed on Monday, Aug. 10, starting at 8 a.m. The rest of the park will stay open.
Columbia West Engineering will be at the park for infiltration testing to prepare for the new playground construction in 2027. Infiltration testing involves digging a six-inch hole, pouring water into it, and then measuring the time it takes the water to pass through the soil.
This important test is completed in multiple locations around the playground. The results will give designers the information they need to understand the footing requirements to build a safe, new play structure. Any holes created for testing will be filled after tests are completed.
