City Manager update: March 2026
March 6, 2026
I want to share an important update regarding leadership within our Police Department. Police Chief Troy Price has announced his plans to retire in January 2027 after nearly 30 years in policing.
Chief Price has been a strategic and thoughtful leader, guiding significant advancements in how we deliver police services to the community. Under his leadership, the department implemented the body-worn and in-car camera program to strengthen transparency and trust. His commitment to leveraging technology also enabled the launch of the department’s drone program. He played an instrumental role in shaping Proposition 5, the Police Services Levy that secured additional funding for the department.
As we prepare for this transition, we will begin a recruitment for our next Chief of Police later this year. Residents will have opportunities to share their perspectives on the qualities and priorities they would like to see in the department’s next leader, and we look forward to hearing from the community as this process moves forward.
I am deeply grateful for Chief Price’s dedication, leadership, and commitment to Vancouver. As you see him around the community, please join me in thanking him for his service and wishing him well as he prepares for the next chapter in his life.
