Firstenburg Fitness Center
Get moving in our Fitness Center, a welcoming 3,400-square-foot space designed for all fitness levels and abilities. Located on the second floor, the Fitness Center offers everything you need to build strength, improve endurance and enjoy an active routine at your own pace.
- Strength training: Over 7,000 pounds of free weights, plus Nautilus Nitro Plus, Precor, and plate-loaded weight machines, along with a variety of benches
- Cardio equipment: 20 Schwinn cycle bikes and additional cardio options
- Group fitness: Access to 40+ instructor-led group exercise classes, included with your membership
- Indoor walking track: Wheelchair-accessible track overlooking the gymnasium (13 laps = 1 mile)
- Accessible equipment: Wheelchair-accessible arm ergometer and recumbent stepper
Whether you’re lifting, pedaling, running, stretching, or walking, the Firstenburg Fitness Center offers a supportive environment to help you stay active and feel your best.
Fitness Center Age Requirements
- Ages 14+ may use the fitness center, weight room equipment and take classes on their own.
- Firstenburg membership cards for ages 14-17 will be marked using a unique hole punch to indicate their age to staff.
- Children ages 13 and under are not allowed to use the walking track or any equipment in the Fitness Center.
- Youth are required to scan in at the front desk and receive a wristband before going to the Fitness Center.
- Youth who do not have a wristband in the Fitness Center will be required to go down to the front desk to verify their age and receive a wristband before coming back to the Fitness Center.
- Youth drop-in users must verify they are 14 or older in order to use the Fitness Center.
- Appropriate attire must be worn.
Group Exercise Classes
Classes are available for all activity and experience levels, from gentle chair exercises to high-intensity cardio and strength training. Group exercise classes are free for Firstenburg members, visitors are required to pay the daily drop-in fee.
Group Exercise Policies:
- Please be on time to class. No entry five minutes after class starts for safety and disruption concerns.
- Appropriate clothing and shoes must be worn at all times (unless told otherwise by an instructor). We recommend shoes that have not been worn outdoors.
- No perfume, cologne or other strong smelling scents.
- Wipe off your equipment after use with a sanitizing solution and a paper towel.
- Let your instructor know if you are just beginning an exercise program OR if you have any injuries or medical conditions that may impact your ability to participate fully.
- The aerobics/dance studio may not be used outside of class or program times. Use of this room must always be under the supervision of a group fitness instructor.
- Hand held weights or ankle/wrist weights are NOT allowed during the warm up or cardiovascular portion of a group exercise class.
- No rubberized suits.
- No more than two risers per side of a step bench.
Senior Fitness
Firstenburg offers insurance-based memberships with SilverSneakers®, Silver&Fit® and Renew Active/One Pass™ programs, which include senior exercise classes and access to all non-fee-based amenities at the community center. These programs are offered in partnership with select health plans at no additional cost for Medicare-eligible members.

Personal Training
Get active and stay motivated with help from certified personal trainers at Firstenburg Community Center. Benefits of working with a personal trainer include:

Personal Training appointments start on time and expire one year from date of purchase. Sessions are non-refundable and non-transferable. You must cancel any Personal Training appointment at least 24 hours in advance or you will lose credit for that session. Cost is shown as Vancouver resident/non-resident.

Fitness and Recreation
Dance classes, rock climbing, aquatic fitness classes, sports leagues and senior hikes are all available through Vancouver recreation programs.
