A Flight Through Time at Pearson Field

Pearson Field (101 E. Reserve St.) and Pearson Field Air Museum (1115 E. Fifth St.)

Visitors of all ages are welcome to explore Pearson Field and the Pearson Field Air Museum at a free, family‑friendly celebration of aviation history, innovation, and community. This celebration is in partnership with the National Park Service. 

Enjoy guided walking tours, Pearson Field Air Museum exhibits, static aircraft and vintage car displays, flight simulators for all skill levels, community booths, a talk by historian and author Martin Middlewood, Civil Air Patrol presence and community outreach, paper airplane competitions, local aviation art, pilot-focused programming, food vendors, and live music. Cast your vote for your favorite aircraft or car. The People’s Choice Awards will be presented at the end of the event.

The Federal Aviation Administration Safety Team (FAAST) and the Washington Pilots Association (WPA) will host workshops for WINGS credit in the Tex Ranken Theater inside the Pearson Field Air Museum.

Timeline of events

• 10 a.m.–The 99s, the historic all-women aviators’ organization, will unveil a freshly painted Compass Rose.  
• 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.–The Pearson Field Education Center will be open to the public.
• 10 a.m.–FAAST workshop
• 11:30 a.m.–Paper airplane competition begins. Prizes will be awarded for the longest distance and spot landing.
• 1:45 p.m.–WPA workshop
