Woodchips reduce weeds, hold water in the soil, and help soil maintain cool and consistent temperatures, all great things to help newly planted plants establish successfully! This project will set us up for a successful planting on October 30, when we’ll add 400 native plants to this space. Training, gloves, tools, water, and snacks will be provided. Help us prepare a new Naturespace planting site by spreading woodchips over our planting area. Woodchips reduce weeds, hold water in the soil, and help soil maintain cool and consistent temperatures, all great things to help newly planted plants establish successfully! This project will set us up for a successful planting on October 30, when we’ll add 400 native plants to this space.

Training, gloves, tools, water, and snacks will be provided. This opportunity is family-friendly and great for teens. Volunteers should dress for the weather and wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. Youth under 18 must bring a signed minor consent form. There is no bathroom at this location.

Accessibility is important to us and we’ve taken it into account while planning this event. Work is primarily done in a quiet neighborhood park with potential for some infrequent loud work sounds. This project will involve pushing wheelbarrows, and shoveling and raking woodchips. There will be a space in the RSVP form for you to let us know if there are any accessibility needs you have so that we can do our best to find a volunteer role that will work for you.
