Engineering – Sewer Checklist

The checklist is a sample of minimum selected design standards only. All other design standards and project conditions apply.

Plan Review

General Information

  • Easement(s) Required, Shown, Called Out; Copy of offsite easement included
  • Existing easement(s) and Easement Corrections Shown, Called Out
  • Easement Accessibility
  • Legend
  • Street Names and Widths
  • Length of Public Improvements (Water/Sewer)
  • Current Standard Detail Sheets or City of Vancouver’s Standard Detail Note
  • Completed Industrial Pretreatment Industrial Information Form (IIF) (if applicable)
  • Completed Clark Regional Wastewater District (CRWWD) Utility Review (if applicable)

General Requirements

  • Construction notes
  • Complies with P.I.R.
  • Downstream sewer main existing and approved
  • Straight alignment between manholes/cleanout
  • Sewer main locations-dimensions shown from ROW/centerline/Easement/etc.) (Typ. 7’ South/West of CL)
  • Show existing and proposed utilities
  • Separate lateral for each Lot/Building
  • Lateral size (4”-SFR; 6”-Others), Distance from downstream MH, Length from Main, Slope, Depth and Invert Elevations (If <5’deep, C900 PVC required)
  • Special manhole frame or cover required
  • Manhole coating required
  • Minimum finish floor elevation (FFE) required (if laterals <5’ deep)  

Plan and Profile Information

  • Sanitary stationing
  • Show existing downstream MH (distance to new MH, IE and Slope)
  • Show possible conflicts (Utilities, Structures, Trees, Wells, etc.)
  • Pipe sizes, lengths, and materials – Plan and Profile match
  • Manhole spacing (Typ. Max. 400’)
  • Cleanout (Typ. Maximum distance 150’) Separation from water (10’ horizontal, 18” vertical)

Profile Information

  • Minimum depth and cover (If <5’, C900 PVC required; min. 3’ cover)
  • Minimum design slope (0.0045 for 8” pipe)
  • Rim and invert elevations
  • Check slopes and invert calculations
  • Drop through manhole required (Typ. 0.2 ft)
  • Inside/outside drop required
  • Concrete anchors required (slope > 20%)
