Unwanted Medication Disposal
Safe disposal of prescription medications (including pet medications), sharps and over-the-counter medications can be dropped off at several locations. In addition, there are drug take back events scheduled twice a year.
Prepare medications for disposal
- Medications do not need to be in the original container unless otherwise specified
- Remove or obscure all patient information from containers
- No sharps or inhalers at any site listed below unless specified
- Sites do not accept liquids or gels unless otherwise specified

Prepare sharps for drop off
- Use an approved sharps container when transporting sharps
- If an approved sharps container is not available, use a rigid plastic container with a lid (ex: plastic milk jug) and label the container, “Warning Sharps – Do Not Recycle”
