Firstenburg Pool

Firstenburg pool features an aquatic playground with zero depth entry, three-lane lap pool, lazy river and 130-foot-long slide. A 3,000-gallon heated spa is located next to the pool for therapeutic relaxation. Whether you are looking for aquatic fitness activities or a spot for family fun, the Firstenburg Pool is here to serve you in East Vancouver.

Pool schedule and rules

Scheduled aquatic fitness activities are open on a first-come, first-served basis until the pool reaches capacity. The spa remains open for general use during scheduled activities and lessons.

Public Swim

Enjoy all ages play time at Firstenburg Public Swim! Noodles, life jackets and float mats are available for use at no charge. The zero depth sprays, bubbles, jets, lazy river, spa and the pool slide are turned on during Public Swim.

  • Swim bands will handed out 30 minutes prior to each swim.
  • Non-swimmers and children under 7 (with or without life jacket) must always be within arm’s reach of a parent or a responsible adult. 
  • One adult must be in the water for every three children under age 7.
  • Children age 3 and under and non-toilet trained children must wear swim diapers and plastic pants. These items may be purchased at the front desk.
  • Safety is our top priority. Public Swim capacity is always dependent on the number of lifeguard staff available to ensure proper safety ratios are maintained.

There is no cost for Firstenburg members to attend Public Swim. Visitors must pay the daily drop-in fee. For information about hours and fees, visit the Firstenburg Community Center webpage.

Swim Lessons

Swim Lessons are available starting at 6-months old and continuing for the adult beginner. Classes are taught by Red Cross-certified Water Safety Instructors (WSI). You do not need to be a Firstenburg member to register for swim lessons.

Pool Parties and Rentals

Join the Aquatics Team

Help people enjoy water recreation activities safely and responsibly at Firstenburg Pool. Positions include lifeguards who supervise pool use and Water Safety Instructors who teach swim lessons. No experience is needed but specific training and certification is required before you begin working. There is no cost to participate in the training/certification process and candidates receive a $300 incentive after successfully completing lifeguard training. Open to ages 16+.

General pool information

  • Spectators are not allowed on the pool deck. The pool viewing area in the lobby will be available.
  • Children ages 3 and under and non-toilet trained children must wear swim diapers and plastic pants. These items may be purchased at the front desk.
  • Please lock up belongings in the locker room.
  • Non-swimmers and children under 7 (with or without life jacket) must always be within arm’s reach of a parent or a responsible adult.
  • Help us maintain top-quality pool water:
    • Do not swim if you have had intestinal issues in the last 14 days.
    • Refrain from wearing lotions, fragrances, hair products and make-up in the pool.
    • A soap shower is required before swimming.

Water Slide Rules

  • Obey the attendants at all times.
  • Only one rider to enter the flume at a time. Never form chains of riders. Riding improperly could cause injury.
  • Proper riding position is feet first in a sitting position or lying on your back. (Sit up to go slower, lie down to go faster).
  • Remain in proper riding position until you come to a complete stop in the pool.
  • Children under 48 in tall are not permitted on this ride.
  • Maximum single rider weight, 300 lb.
  • No horseplay or daredevil stunts allowed.
  • This attraction transports you to an intense participatory water thrill ride.
  • This ride is not recommended for unattended small children or weak swimmers.
  • Expectant mothers and persons with or having a history of heart, back, neck, or joint problems must not ride.
  • Failure to abide by these rules may result in serious injury to yourself or others.
  • No swimwear with exposed zippers, buckles, rivets or metal ornamentation. They can scratch or cut riders and the slide surface.
  • Eyeglasses must be securely affixed to riders with head straps.
  • Patrons with a single arm cast or splint below the elbow are allowed to go on these rides. They must be able to grasp a handle or handrail effectively. No cervical collar, neck brace, arm cast including or above the elbow, leg cast, foot cast or brace, or brace between legs are allowed.
  • Riders with partial limb(s) and/or prosthetic(s) are permissible if they can grasp a handle or handrail effectively. No exposed rubber soles are permitted on body slides.
  • Riders must wait for the start signal from the attendants before starting the ride.
  • Do not run, dive, stand, kneel, rotate, or stop in the slide.
  • Keep arms and hands inside the flumes at all times.
  • Do not attempt to slow down by grabbing or holding the flume with either feet or hands.
  • If you stop in the flume, do not stand up. Lie down and allow the water to push you down the slide.
  • At the end of the slide, obey all instructions from attendants and exit quickly.
  • When exiting:
    • Do not block the end of the slide.
    • Leave the splash pool quickly and orderly.
    • No swimming or flotation devices allowed in the splash pool.
