City seeks volunteers to serve on Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission
August 28, 2024
Update: City now seeking applicants for three (previously two) openings on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee
The City of Vancouver is seeking local parks and recreation enthusiasts to fill three vacancies on its Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission (PRAC). Applications must be submitted by Sept. 20.
PRAC is a 10-member volunteer citizens’ group made up of city residents, two school district representatives and a liaison from the Parks Foundation of Clark County. The commission advises Vancouver City Council and City staff on needs, plans and programs for providing an adequate system of parks, open space, playgrounds, facilities and recreation services to the residents of Vancouver.
Commissioners serve three-year terms. PRAC meets from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on the third Wednesday of every month at Vancouver City Hall, 415 W. Sixth St., as well as occasional special meetings. All meetings are currently being held with options for in-person and virtual participation.
To serve on the PRAC, applicants must live within the Vancouver City limits and be available for a virtual or phone interview with the Vancouver Mayor on a date to be determined. This recruitment is for two mid-term appointments, one with a term ending July 31, 2025 and the other ending July 31, 2026. And one full-term appointment, with a term beginning December 31, 2024, and a term ending July 31, 2027.
