Active construction projects

West Vancouver Sanitary Sewer Improvements

Project details: We are improving sewer infrastructure in 10 areas in West Vancouver. This project will provide sewer service to 91 residential properties. Installation of the new sewer laterals to property lines will give properties in the project area the option to connect to our community’s safe, reliable public sewer system.

The ten projects will take place near:

  • Lincoln Avenue from West 24th Street to West Fourth Plain Boulevard
  • Markle Avenue, from West 23rd Street to West Fourth Plain Boulevard
  • West 28th Street and Esther Street
  • McLoughlin Boulevard and Harney Street
  • McLoughlin Boulevard and Grant Street
  • C Street between East 23rd Street and East 25th Street
  • Northwest 43rd Street and Northwest Lavina Street
  • Northeast Harney Street and Northwest 48th Street
  • Northwest Esther Street between Northwest 49th Street and Northwest 52nd Street
  • Northwest Division Avenue, north of Northwest 45th Street and Northeast Creston Street, north of Northwest 45th Street
  • Alki Road, near Hazel Dell Avenue and Newhouse Road

Impacts: During construction, there will be some impacts to travel in the neighborhood work zones. To allow for safe construction of the improvements, the contractor will close sections of street from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Temporary road closures will be reopened at the end of each shift and will be open on the weekend.

In some locations, the contractor will use flaggers to control traffic. Be aware of flaggers and traffic control devices such as cones and signs.

To complete connections to the new waterline on Alki Road, it may be necessary to briefly interrupt water service. Impacted properties will receive a doorhanger notice at least 24 hours in advance of any planned water service disruptions.

General work hours: General hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, but may continue as late as 8 p.m. and could take place on weekends, if needed.

Start date: The week of May 25, 2026

Anticipated completion date: October 2026

East Mill Plain Boulevard and MacArthur Boulevard Greenbelt Project

Project details: This project will realign the intersection of MacArthur Boulevard and Mill Plain Boulevard and construct a greenbelt path for cyclists and pedestrians along MacArthur Boulevard.

The project includes tree and vegetation removal, roadway excavation, stormwater conveyance and treatment, water main, sewer main, paving with asphalt and concrete, irrigation systems, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, pavement markings, traffic signal system, streetlighting, and landscaping improvements. We will remove 37 trees and replant with 72 new trees.

The project serves as one of the primary gateways to the future Heights District and represents the beginning of broader redevelopment efforts planned for the area.

Impacts: During construction, there will be impacts to travel in the work zones. To allow for safe construction of the improvements, the contractor will close lanes and use detours and/or flaggers. Pedestrians should be alert to ramp and sidewalk closures. Bicycles and motorcycles should exercise caution. Drive slowly in the construction zone and be prepared for delays up to 20 minutes when flaggers are present.

Watch for closures on:

  • When construction starts, the right-turn slip lane from Mill Plain Boulevard to MacArthur Boulevard will be closed. This lane will be replaced with a new right-turn lane.
  • MacArthur Boulevard southbound between Mill Plain Boulevard and Blandford Drive will be closed.
  • Ogden Avenue will be closed at the intersection of Mill Plain Boulevard for up to one month.
  • Blandford Drive westbound between MacArthur Boulevard and Evergreen Boulevard will be closed for up to one month.
  • There will be additional lane closures and turn lane restrictions.

Schedules may change.

Partner utility work: During construction, franchise utilities, such as Clark Public Utilities, Lumen, Comcast, AT&T, and Verizon, will also be working in the area to relocate their facilities to avoid conflicts with the City’s work. Relocation work is estimated to begin as soon as late June. Completion is estimated for early fall 2026. Exact construction schedules for the franchise utility relocation work are coordinated through each utility company and may change depending on weather and other scheduling.

General work hours: 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Work could continue as late as 8 p.m., if needed.
